iPhone UI Icon Set Updated for the iPhone 4 Retina Display

Today I updated the iPhone UI Icon Set to contain a version of each icon that has been redrawn for the iPhone 4 Retina Display. The new icons are twice the size of the originals, bringing the set to a total of 640 icons: 160 unique icons * 2 sizes (small, normal) * 2 versions (default, @2x). For graphical assets, iO2 looks for a “@2x” suffix to the file name, ex: “icon.png, icon@2x.png”. The icons are named this way so that you can simply drop both copies of…

New Project: iLogMiles App Icon

New Project: iLogMiles App Icon

I had the pleasure of working with the great team over at Applicandy on an app icon for iLogMiles, late last year. The application provides truck drivers with a daily log book and packs a number of paper-based log methods into once simple app. They recently received approval from Apple, so the app is on the store and I can talk about it! I don’t think there are many trucker/graphic designers reading this site, but I thought that it might be helpful to share…

iPhone App Icon Template

Having designed a number of iPhone icons, I’ve spent some time gawking at the array of beautiful ones out there. One of my favorite concepts is to turn the 57x57 icon into a 3d object like a package or a radio, rather than an image inside of a gem casing. I’ve spent some time figuring out the array of techniques needed to design these “object” icons, so I thought it might be helpful to share them.

The Command Guru Project

It’s been a very lazy holiday season for me as I thoroughly enjoyed Christmas through New Years with my family and recharged from a very eventful 2009. I’m finally getting back into the swing of things and wanted to take a second and write about my experience as a member of the Command Guru Project. For those who didn’t hear about it Command Guru is the brainchild of Shado, an Italian TV production company, in which 10 designers and developers set out to create an iPhone app in 7 days. The project took place in Venice, Italy from December 4–10th. The project lead was none other than Aaron Hillegass the famous mac developer, author and owner of Big Nerd Ranch.

AdMob Redesign

A few weeks ago I caught Tim Van Damme’s proposed iTunes Store redesign. He wasn’t contracted by Apple for the design; he did it for fun in his spare time. I was really impressed by this and inspired to do something similar, albeit smaller in scope: AdMob iPhone ads.

New Product: Iphone UI Icon Set
