Dear Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs

You don't know this, but we were in the same room once. It was a big room, you were on stage and you were pretty busy. You definitely didn't notice me, but I could see you clear enough from somewhere in the middle. I didn't get a chance to say thank you then so I figured I'd do it now. I feel like you deserve it.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to further my career. I'm a graphic designer and that term has taken on new meaning because of the products your company creates. Each one brings new challenges and accomplishments and I'm a better designer for it.

Thank you for giving me something to share with my family. When I sit down with my 11 year old to look up geography lessons, or when my 3 year old snags "daddy's pad" to paint a picture, I know it's how you envisioned it. I have these moment with them, some in my head, some as pictures or video, and your work has played a major part in that.

Finally, thank you for giving me something that just works, and by that I mean thank you for keeping your promises. You were a man of your word. I appreciate that most of all.

Steve Jobs, Feb 24, 1955 - Oct 5, 2011.

May you rest in peace.
